Capoeira Etiquette

Many capoeiristas will tell you that capoeira is a way of life. Not unlike visiting a foreign country, it would serve visitors well to use the most polite language in their repertoire and be on their best behavior upon entrance into a capoeira class. And perhaps the most important point to keep in mind when stepping into the world of capoeira is: respect {{read more}}

Driving Classes - Your Route to Freedom

Driving Classes - Your Route to Freedom
Discover what is stopping you from learning to drive and start to find the best instructor and lessons for your own unique needs today.

You are never too old to learn to drive. From the age of 17, you have the ability to step into the car of a driving instructor to learn an incredibly valuable skill that could open the door to a huge range of opportunities. To help you to find the very best driving lessons for your own unique needs keep reading now.

What’s stopping you?

Before we identify what to look for in a driving class, it is important to identify if there is something that has prevented you from looking into learning at this stage in your life. If you are currently 17 and are simply searching for the best lessons for your cash then skip onto the next section, but if there is something that is holding you back let’s work to identify it now.

There are three reasons why many people don’t learn to drive:

  • Fear of failure

  • Feeling too old (can’t teach an old dog new tricks mentality)

  • A bad motoring experience

If you fall into one of the above three categories don’t worry, you certainly aren’t alone! And what’s more, there are many driving teachers out there that specialise in instructing those that are nervous or more mature than those coming straight from school to learn.

Some people put off learning to drive for years, either due to lack of motivation or because of fear. Don’t let that become you. Instead, bite the bullet, keep reading to find the perfect driving instructor and set of lessons for you and your unique needs and start to learn! You may be surprised at how much you enjoy the freedom of having your own licence.

Finding an instructor

There is no denying that there are a lot of driving instructors within the UK today. From large organisations such as BSM and Learner Driving Centres, down to individuals operating from their own car; making the choice as to which instructor is the best for you can be difficult.

To help you along your way, here are some considerations that will make your choice easier:

  • Cost. How expensive is the instructor? Are they out of your budget? How many lessons could you afford to take with them?

  • Speed. Do you need to pass your driving test quickly? Perhaps to fit into a holiday or for a specific job that requires a licence? Look for instructors that offer intensive six week programs to get you driving in record time.

  • Recommendations. If a friend or relative can recommend the instructor you may feel more confident about their ability to take you from a novice to an experience driver in no time. If you don’t have any recommendations why not look for reviews online to find out what other trainee drivers have said.

  • Special circumstances. Are you a nervous driver? Are you scared of failing? Many instructors specialise in training nervous drivers.

  • Pass rate. Although there are plenty of variables when it comes to a driving instructor’s pass rate, you may want to ask or find out online how many of their pupils pass on their first attempts. Obviously the higher the pass rate the better.

Don’t ever be afraid to try out a lesson with a driving instructor before signing up for a block of lessons. You could well be spending a significant amount of time with them over the course of your training, so it is important to find a teacher that you get on with.

Passing your test

If we could give you a five step strategy to help you to pass your driving test on the first try we certainly would! Unfortunately it isn’t that simple, however by practicing as often as possible before the test, and keeping calm and relaxed during, you stand a great chance of success.

Driving lessons may not provide an opportunity to meet other people so much as other forms of adult education such as tennis classes, but few other courses will leave you with such a valuable skill. If you have yet to learn to drive, why not look for some local teachers now to learn a skill that will make a big difference to your life.
